Licensed agents

The PSRA licenses and regulates auctioneers, estate agents, letting agents and property management agents in Ireland; check its public register before you deal with an agent.

Your solicitor

Appoint a solicitor at the start: in Ireland, the solicitor handles the contract and checks the title. Take independent legal advice before you bid.

Stamp duty

Stamp duty is charged on the purchase of property and collected by Revenue. Read Revenue’s residential property pages, or ask your solicitor, for the current rates.

The Residential Property Price Register

The PSRA publishes residential property sales on the Residential Property Price Register, with the date, address and declared price. See our property guide for the neighbourhoods; we don’t publish prices or yields.
