About Glendalough Monastic Site

In a glaciated valley in County Wicklow, St Kevin founded a monastery in the 6th century that became one of the most famous religious centres in Europe; the remains of its ‘Monastic City’ include a superb round tower, the Office of Public Works says. Paying for the visitor centre car park includes one admission to the visitor centre.
