North of the Liffey, Smithfield’s cobbled square has the Light House Cinema, the Cobblestone’s music and the old Jameson distillery; Stoneybatter beside it is one of the city’s favourite neighbourhoods. East lie O’Connell Street, the Abbey Theatre, Henrietta Street and Parnell Square, home of Chapter One and the Gate; west, Phoenix Park.
